In an interview with Zero Hora, our partner Camila Tapias commented on the possibilities of an agreement at the conciliation hearing between the President and Congress on the IOF, which took place on Tuesday at the Supreme Federal Court (STF).
“At the conciliation hearing, intermediate solutions may be proposed, legislative adjustments, suspension of the effects of normative acts while an institutional solution is debated or even commitments not to issue new conflicting rules, it all depends on the willingness of the parties to negotiate. It is also possible that a timetable for further meetings will be established,” he said.
The conciliatory hearing was scheduled after the STF was called into action by different lawsuits questioning the validity of the IOF decrees, amid weeks of clashes between the federal government and Congress over the possible tax hike.
