In an interview with IstoÉ Dinheiro, our partner Camila Tapias talked about the impact of the ICMS readjustment on gasoline and diesel prices, which comes into effect in February.

In the case of fuels, the specialist points to three reasons that motivated the state to increase its tax collection, all related to the rise in the price of oil: the fluctuations of barrels amid an international scenario troubled by geopolitical tensions, the devaluation of the real and the issue of fiscal policy.

“Sometimes we resort directly to some taxes in order to get a quicker return,” she says.

She believes, however, that there should be no new ICMS adjustment in 2025. “I believe that they will try to hold off as long as possible in order to carry out this review annually,” she adds.
