In an interview to the website Seu Dinheiro, our partner Ana Cláudia Utumi talked about how to declare Brazilian Depositary Receipts (BDRs) in the 2022 Income Tax.

According to the news piece, the tax treatment of dividends for those who invest in BDRs is the same as for those who invest in stocks abroad. In this case, dividends from international companies are not exempt from income tax, being taxed according to the income tax progressive table.

“The dividends are part of the foreign company’s profit, so in origin they are income from abroad”, said Ana.
