Our partner Camila Tapias spoke to the newspaper O Dia, providing important advice on how to avoid mistakes in the final stretch of the deadline for submitting your income tax return.
Camila explains that the main mistake made by those who file at the end is haste. “Many taxpayers end up omitting income, especially that of dependents, or forget to include deductible expenses with the proper documentation, due to the rush to file. It’s important to remember that the fine for late filing is 1% per month of the tax due, limited to 20% of the total, with a minimum of R$165.74,” she says.
She points out that, until the deadline, it is possible to review and adjust the information, ensuring “a more careful analysis that can avoid the fine mesh and even increase the amount of the refund”.
