On April 22, our partner Camila Tapias participated, alongside Luis Felipe Vidal Arellano, São Paulo’s Municipal Secretary of Finance and vice-chair of the IBS Management Committee, in a meeting of the Tax Affairs Council of the Federation of Trade in Goods, Services, and Tourism of the State of São Paulo (FecomercioSP).
Camila, who also serves as Tax Reform Coordinator for the Special Tax Law Commission of the São Paulo Bar Association (OAB), offered important insights into how the enforcement and collection of the new taxes proposed by the reform will be carried out, as well as how the administrative process will function.
She believes that, even though it was not adopted by the legislature, Complementary Bill 50/2024—which she helped draft and which proposed joint enforcement and collection of the IBS and CBS, with a unified administrative process to avoid duplication and conflicts—can still be utilized.
