Our partners Ana Cláudia Utumi and Camila Tapias took part in the Working Group (WG) set up by the Chamber of Deputies to analyze and debate the bill to regulate the new consumption tax system (PLP 68/2024).

Ana defended a favorable business environment and highlighted the importance of cashback for tax justice. She criticized split payment as worrying for business development, since it requires the next link in the chain to assume the costs, by preventing credits from being used if the previous stage fails to pay.

Camila advocated unified inspections of IBS and that administrative litigation should also be unified. She also advocated extending the cashback for low-income families, which was included in the revised text approved by the House, increasing the cashback from 50% to 100% on electricity, natural gas, water and sewage bills.
